Whenever I see someone using Tatcha, I think: That person has taste — and also that they have money. My favorite face mist, for example, is an eye-watering $49. It’s hard to justify shelling out almost $50 for fancy water no matter how good it is, which is why I am always thrilled when the Friends and Family sale rolls around. It’s the one time outside of the holidays that Tatcha runs a sitewide sale, offering 20 percent off its entire site. While that might not seem exciting to the untrained eye, Tatcha is rarely on sale, so this is very exciting. And we at the Strategist have early access starting today through May 22, when everyone else gets access to the sale. You can shop early when you use the code NYMAG24, and even if you don’t get to your cart on time, you can still use the code until the sale ends on June 2. It’s a good time to get a jump on best sellers, like the cult-favorite Dewy Skin Cream, or try something entirely new. To help navigate, I’ve shared a few of my favorites and things I’m excited to try out, below.

I’m obsessed with Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, which, unlike others I’ve tried, actually has a noticeable effect on my skin. A few spritzes of the botanical-smelling spray and I look fresh out of the aesthetician’s chair — glowy and moisturized. It’s also calming for my skin, which tends to be highly reactive to anything scented or strong. I’ve been hoarding this stuff for years, and the sale is the perfect opportunity to pick up one more.

We can’t talk about Tatcha without mentioning its Dewy Skin Cream. It’s a favorite of Strategist readers and our beauty columnist, Rio, who says her skin “looks plumper, brighter, and intensely nourished” immediately after applying it. The main ingredient is skin-hydrating hyaluronic acid, beloved for its ability to help skin retain water. What I love about this moisturizer is that it manages to be rich without feeling heavy and doesn’t cause other products to pill up on top. According to Rio, it actually makes base products lay better. “Makeup glides over it like a dream,” she says.

I’ve been putting off trying Tatcha’s lip mask for years. I first became curious about it when Rio called it her “all-time favorite” for getting supple lips. Her one gripe was that it left her lips glossy, but that’s actually a big pro for me because I’ll never say no to an ultraglossy lip. I’ve also been known to use the Laneige lip mask as a gloss, but that one stopped working for me and I’ve been yearning for a replacement ever since. It’s a touch pricier than the Laneige at $29, but with the sale, I’m willing to bite the bullet and pick it up.

TikTok convinced me to give Danessa Myricks’s moisture-repair balm serum a try, and it has quickly become an essential in my skin-care routine. It also made me realize I love a thin layer of glow-making, nourishing moisture. I have a tendency to go down a rabbit hole of testing an entire category once I find one product that I like, so now I’m curious about Tatcha Silk Canvas, an OG in the balm-primer category. It blurs and primes and has a bunch of antioxidants that help to minimize clogged pores and protect from environmental stressors like pollution.I’ve been hearing about it for years but didn’t think to test it until now. Plus, Rio’s testimony that it makes her makeup look “frighteningly fresh and flawless” all day makes a very compelling case.

I’m always on the lookout for a mineral sunscreen that doesn’t have a ghostly purplish white glow, so I’m interested in Tatcha’s Silk Sunscreen, which recently went through a packaging update (the old one used to spontaneously release product). The new packaging has a sleek, pointed spout, but otherwise the formula is the same. Tatcha is known for making good sunscreens —Rio has previously raved about its pore-perfecting sunscreen — so I have reason to believe that its mineral option will be just as good. I’m a fan of the high SPF factor (50) and the inclusion of a patented zinc oxide that’s apparently 2.5 times more effective than regular zinc oxide at preventing skin damage from free radicals. And there’s a bunch of skin-care ingredients too, including hyaluronic acid, squalane, and niacinamide, which help to moisturize and even out skin tone over time.
