I have B's. Can I still get into Harvard? (1)

Harvard prospective students

During my high school career I have managed to accumulate one B in one semester every year 9th-11th grade. Can I still get in Harvard with this GPA of 3.85-3.9 and an ACT of 35?

Hi there, I'm a freshman but I'll let you know what I learned. First of all, make sure that's your unweighted and not weighted, and also check up on the chancing simulator, give it all the data you have and it'll do the work for you. I think you should be fine, especial with a near perfect ACT. Now it mostly depends on your extracurricular activities. If you have amazing ECs, then there is no doubt in you getting in, so props to you! If your extra curricular aren't so great, work on them as much as you can, since in this circ*mstance, that can make it or break it. Also make sure you took a good amount of AP classes, but only take them if they won't hurt your GPA.

hopefully you get into Harvard, and if you got any tips, I'll put out a post.

Probably the best achievement I have is that I placed third in a national fine arts competition. Also, my school does not offer AP/IB. Is that ok do you think?

Placing third in a national competition is amazing! That's definitely a Harvard-worthy EC. In terms of AP/IB, if your school doesn't offer it, that's ok. I would recommend taking some classes at a community college or online classes to show that you are capable of college-level coursework

Good question! It's definitely possible to get in even with a few Bs, but it's certainly harder. Having amazing extracurriculars (ideally including a spike - that's a specific area in which you've achieved fantastic thing), and having a 4.0 from now on will definitely help. If you want to know your chances, I'd recommend using our chancing engine! You can fill out your profile information above and check out Harvard in your school list to see our detailed estimate.
