Where can I find historical stock prices for stock tickers no longer traded? (2024)

Mergent First Research and Factiva are two library databases that will allow you to do so.

To find Mergent First Research and Factiva:

1-Visit the library homepage:libguides.hofstra.edu/hulhome.

2-ChooseBrowse Databases by A-Z or Subjectlocated on the left side:libguides.hofstra.edu/az.php.

3- Locate Mergent First Research under M and Factivaunder F.

Mergent First Research:search inactive US and international companies by placing a check mark next to USA Company Database (Inactive) or International Company Database (Inactive) on the search screen and then entering the company name or symbol.

Then on the company information page, click on theEquity Pricing tab; on the Equity Pricing page, under Controls on the left side, choose the time period (up to 30 years). A pricing chart will be drawn.

Factiva:

To find stock prices, click on the Companies/Markets tab on the top of the screen, type in your ticker symbol and indicate whether you want daily or monthly prices.

Prices are available for the last 3 years.

Additionally, a web resource for historic stock prices is Yahoo Finance (Stock Prices) - http://finance.yahoo.com/ .

Stock prices go back to the 1070s. Begin by doing a search using the ticker symbol, then choose "Historical Prices" from the blue bar on the left; choose daily, weekly, or monthly data.
