But there is actually little scientific evidence on sitting on the floor. Children often naturally gravitate to the floor. “Sitting on the floor helps to prevent slouching, as your lower back is naturally pulled slightly into a supported position when you are sitting with your legs crossed,” Matthew Cavanaugh, DC, a chiropractor who specializes in treating back and neck pain, told Health.

What are the pros and cons of floor sitting?
The practice is said to improve flexibility and mobility, as it allows you to actively stretch your lower body. It's also thought to promote natural stabilization of your core muscles. Yet, when done incorrectly, floor sitting could cause pain and discomfort. This is especially likely if already have joint issues.
As I mentioned, my productivity often feels constrained by only being able to sit in a chair. The freedom to sit or lie on a floor surface helps combat this for me and I am sure it could do so for others as well.
It offers a sense of freedom and flexibility, allowing them to move and change positions more easily compared to sitting in a chair. While sitting on the floor can provide some benefits, such as improved posture and increased core strength, it may also have implications for concentration.
Eating and talking while sitting on the floor is a common practice in several cultures, including Japanese, Korean, Indian, and many Middle Eastern cultures. In Japan, for example, traditional meals are often enjoyed while sitting on tatami mats.
It May Improve Your Posture
Sleeping on the floor can make it easier for you to keep your spine straight during sleep, since you don't have to worry about sinking too deeply into a mattress. However, you may need to use pillows to decrease pressure on your spine, such as placing a thin pillow beneath your lower back.

Why sitting on the floor for 30 minutes a day could help you live longer?
Sitting on the floor also improves posture and increases overall strength, flexibility, and mobility. Studies correlate the “ability to sit and rise from the floor without support” with a longer life expectancy. Sitting on the floor also develops musculoskeletal fitness.
For these reasons, pulling an all-nighter in order to study may not help much. Students may have trouble learning new things while they are depriving themselves of sleep, which can even continue for days after the all-nighter. “Acute sleep deprivation leads to impaired judgment, worse than being drunk.”
But while you might think it's worth it to grind through days of hard work on just a few hours of sleep, that's almost certainly a bad idea. The vast majority of people are much better off with an extra hour of sleep instead of an extra hour of studying.
Getting a good night's rest is definitely important, but sleep can also help with the recall of study material. Especially on those exams for which you only study once, it is better to stay up late and get some sleep after memorizing terms than to wake up early and cram.
