Why is Google translating my pages to French?

By default, Chrome offers to translate pages written in a language you don't understand. You can control whether Chrome will offer to translate webpages. On your computer, open Chrome. At the top right, click More Settings.

- On the left, click Personal info.
- Under "General preferences for the web," click Language Edit .
- Search for and select your preferred language.
- Click Select.
- If you understand multiple languages, click + Add another language.
Change Translation settings in Chrome on Android
Tap the three-dot icon. Go to Settings > Languages. By default, Chrome activates the Offer to send pages in other languages to Google Translate option. If it's deactivated, tap the toggle switch.
Click on Settings. Type in Translate in the Search Field. Expand the Language option by clicking on the arrow. Turn off "Offer to translate pages that aren't in a language you read"
If you use Google Chrome as your browser, automatic translation is enabled by default. This feature automatically translates all content on web pages that are not in your preferred language.
By default, Google auto translation is enabled in both Google Chrome and when using Google Toolbar. The auto translation feature lets Google automatically translate the text on Web pages where the text is from a language you don't speak into a language that you do.
- In your browser, go to Google Translate.
- At the top, click Websites.
- We recommend setting the original language to “Detect language.”
- In the “Website,” enter a URL.
- Click Go .
At the top right, tap your Profile icon. Search language. Select your preferred language.
- On your Android device, tap Settings .
- Tap System Languages & input. Languages. If you can't find "System," then under "Personal," tap Languages & input Languages.
- Tap Add a language. and choose the language that you want to use.
- Drag your language to the top of the list.
Why is my Google Home speaking French?
Open the Google Home app and tap the three-line menu icon. Tap "Devices > ⋮ > Settings" and select your Google Home speaker. Tap "Assistant Language" and select the language that you want your Google Home speaker to speak or listen to.
But the accuracy between languages spanned 55% to 94%. Sometimes, Google Translate's precision is shockingly good.
Chrome first checks the HTML lang attribute and if it's not present it checks the Content-Language HTTP header. Then it gets a prediction from cld3 .
To help address content and perspective gaps when a user searches in their local language, sometimes Google may translate the title link and snippet of a search result for results that aren't in the language of the search query, when available.
Stop translating a conversation
To stop using Interpreter mode, say a command like "Stop", "Quit", or "Exit". On a smart display, you can also swipe from left to right to stop Interpreter mode.
According to Google instructions, setting class="notranslate" prevents Google translation.
In Chrome or Safari, you can use the browser settings page to change the language. On your mobile device, open Search settings. Scroll to the "Display Language section." At the bottom, tap Save.
- Select Start > Settings > Time & language > Language & region.
- Choose a language from the Windows display language menu, or, next to Preferred languages, select Add a language to install the one you want if it isn't listed.
To manage the Google Services setting on your device, go to Settings, tap Google, and then select the Google Services setting you want to change. After that, adjust those settings according to what you prefer. Ads: Opt out of ad personalization or reset your advertising ID.
Open the menu item “Settings.” Expand the displayed settings and scroll down to the “Language” section. Choose the preferred language and select “Display Google Chrome in this language”. If the preferred language is not listed, select the option “Add languages.”
Is Google Translate automatic?
Click the translate icon whenever you want to translate the page you're visiting. The extension also automatically detects if the language of a page you're on is different from the language you're using for your Google Chrome interface.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app .
- Tap More Settings .
- Tap Languages.
- Turn off Translate pages.
If you'd rather shut off Google's translation option, there are two ways to do it. Either click the prompt that says don't translate again, when the rejection banner pops up, or navigate to Gmail's translation settings section and select "Don't translate again."
Safari. Safari use Google Translate to translate webpages. To enable or disable translation in Safari, install the Translate extensions from the Safari Extensions Gallery. To translate in Safari, right-click on a page and select Translate this page and a translation bar displays below the address bar.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Translate app .
- At the top right, tap Menu Settings .
- Tap Tap to Translate. Enable. For Android 10 and up: Tap Paste . For Pixel 6 and up: To get quick translations, you can turn on Show floating icon.
